IIMB to host orientation for the PGP and PGPBA Class of 2027 on 9 June 2025
A reorientation for the second-year cohorts of the programmes will be held on 15 June 2025
28 May, 2025, Bengaluru: IIMB will host the orientation for the incoming cohort of its two-year fulltime MBA programmes: Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA), 2025-2027 batch, on 9 June 2025. Ronnie Screwvala, Film Producer and Entrepreneur, will deliver the Chief Guest’s address during the inauguration ceremony, which will be held at the Open-Air-Theatre (OAT) at the IIMB campus.
Commencing 9 June, the orientation is designed to provide new students with support and resources to transition into the college experience and familiarize with the intellectual demands of the MBA curriculum. The programs also aid in building relationships with peers who share similar interests, learn about the student life at IIMB, and connect with senior officials, including Deans and Chairpersons, faculty, and professional staff who are invested in their success. Briefings will be provided on programme expectations, online learning, administrative matters, activities, centres, committees, facilities, policies, and more. Interactions with alumni groups have also been scheduled.
Inaugural remarks will be delivered by Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore; Prof. Manaswini Bhalla, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Management and PGP in Business Analytics, and faculty of the Economics area at IIMB; Prof. Mukta Kulkarni, Dean, Programmes, Chairperson, Office of International Affairs, and faculty of the OB&HRM area at IIMB; Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean, Alumni Relations & Development, and faculty of the OB&HRM area at IIMB, and Prof. Kunal Dasgupta, Chairperson, Admissions & Financial Aid, and faculty of the Economics area at IIMB.
Reorientation on 15 June
The reorientation for the second-year students of the PGP and PGPBA cohorts will be held on 15 June. The preparatory engagement will include a series of faculty-led workshops focused on academic and professional recalibration for the final year. Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) recipients for 2025 will be formally felicitated during the event.
The programme will feature announcements of the Director’s Merit List, the Director’s Honours List, and key scholarship awards. The President of the Students' Affairs Council (SAC), Revanth Reddy, will address the gathering on student life at IIMB, followed by a cultural program to mark the conclusion of the ceremony.
The closing ceremony will feature PGP ’94 alumnus Ganeshan Ramachandran, MD & Lead - Industry Groups, Accenture; and Raghu Polisetty, Senior Managing Director, Global Lead - Strategy & Consulting Global Network, Accenture, as Chief Guests on 15 June 2025.
About the speakers
Ronnie Screwvala is an Indian entrepreneur, investor, and film producer.
He was named one of Esquire’s 75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century in 2008, ranked 78th on Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2009, and featured among Asia’s 25 Most Powerful People by Fortune magazine.
Based in Mumbai, India, Ronnie built a media and entertainment conglomerate (UTV Software Communications) that partnered with News Corp, 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, and Bloomberg, and later in 2012, he divested the company to Disney for an enterprise value of $1.4 billion.
He co-founded UpGrad, which is into online education in the higher education and specialization sector, founded a sports company—U Sports—spanning football, e-sports, and kabaddi, and through his investment company, Unilazer Ventures, has been a significant private equity investor in Indian start-ups with early-stage investment and significant minority stakes. After his entrepreneurial period, he re-entered the media content industry to build a creative content company—RSVP—in movies and digital content and authored a book titled Dream with Your Eyes Open.
Ganeshan Ramachandran is a Managing Director with Accenture’s Global Capability Network, where he leads Industry Consulting. With over 30 years of experience at the intersection of process and technology, he focuses on delivering measurable outcomes for clients. He is a 1994 alumnus of IIMB’s PGP programme, with a specialization in Operations and Finance.
Raghu Polisetty is a Senior Managing Director and Global Lead in Accenture Strategy & Consulting. He leads the Accenture Global Capability Network with nodes in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His organization focuses on providing specialized Management Consulting and Strategy capabilities at scale to support diverse management consulting projects across the world. His organization delivers these services across all key Enterprise Functions and Industries. Prior to assuming this role, Raghu led Technology services from India for Accenture's Europe Market.

Research & Publications Office to host seminar on ‘Do Bond Investors Hedge Geopolitical Risk?’ on 10 June

6 June, 2025, Bengaluru: The Office of Research and Publications (R&P) will host a seminar on, ‘Do Bond Investors Hedge Geopolitical Risk?’, to be led by Prof. Prasad Hegde, Auckland University of Technology Business School (Finance & Accounting area), at 12 pm on 10th June 2025.
Abstract: How corporate bond investors respond to geopolitical risk (GPR), is a question addressed by the researchers who analyze the relationship between firms’ sensitivity to GPR, or GPR beta, and subsequent bond returns. Fama-Macbeth cross-sectional regressions and robust fixed effects panel regressions show significant negative relationship between GPR beta and subsequent bond returns, implying that bonds with high covariance to GPR risk earn lower returns next period. The results are also economically significant, implying that a one-sigma increase in the geopolitical risk beta is associated with an 8% to 9% drop in annual bond returns. High GPR beta bonds generate higher returns during GPR stress periods thereby serving as effective hedging instruments and therefore earn negative premiums due to the hedging effect. The staggered difference-in-differences analyses further reveal that the hedging demand for high GPR-beta bonds is greater following periods of heightened geopolitical conflicts, and the results remain robust to placebo test.
Cross-sectionally, the researchers find that the risk premium as captured by the negative GPR beta bonds is larger for firms with high downside risk, and in times of high volatility and economic uncertainty, and for firms with higher international exposure, greater supply chain stress, and increased credit risk. The results are robust to various tests, including alternative GPR indices and GPR beta estimators, and inclusion of firm level political risk. Collectively, the findings imply that when fixed-income investors are concerned about GPR, they shift investments towards high GPR-beta bonds accepting lower returns to better hedge against geopolitical events, supporting the risk premium or hedging hypothesis.
Speaker Profile: Prof. Prasad is a Senior Lecturer in the Finance Department at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Business School. Prior to joining AUT, he obtained his PhD from Purdue University, USA. Prior to academia, he worked as a Research Associate at IIM Bangalore and as an equity analyst at a buy-side fund (STCI Finance Ltd., an RBI subsidiary) in India. His research interests span topics in empirical finance such as institutional trading behavior, role of Board of Directors in corporate governance, investments and empirical asset pricing. He also holds Financial Risk Management (FRM) certification awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) and is a CFA Level II candidate. Prof. Prasad, with his co-authors, has developed an economic policy uncertainty index for New Zealand.

Call for Submission: Workshop on Mental Health Research in India will be hosted on 24th July 2025 at IIMB
This workshop is part of the SEHAT Study, a collaborative project by Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and IIMB.
28th May 2025: IIMB invites submissions for a one-day workshop on Mental Health Research in India, scheduled for Thursday, July 24th, 2025, at IIMB.
Deadline for submission: Friday June 13, 2025
The workshop is organized as part of the SEHAT Study, (a collaborative research project on mental health by Duke University, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and IIM Bangalore. The SEHAT study is supported by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number R01HD107420. Through a partnership with CMIE’s Consumer Pyramids Household Survey (CPHS), the SEHAT study has exclusive access to five waves of longitudinal data on health outcomes. The workshop will provide participants with an introduction to public datasets from the SEHAT study and findings from ongoing research. It will also devote an equal amount of time for paper presentations selected from this call for paper.
The workshop will:
Introduce researchers to the SEHAT dataset (via CMIE’s CPHS)
Feature findings from ongoing studies
Include selected paper presentations from this open call
Submission Guidelines:
500 word (maximum) structured abstract with introduction, objectives, methods, results, and conclusion.
Submissions from all social sciences and public health fields are welcome. Quantitative research papers that rely on data from India will be prioritized.
Papers that are unpublished at the time of submission will be preferred; recent publications (papers published in 2025) will also be considered for presentation.
Travel (within India) and accommodation in Bangalore will be covered by the workshop.

The interdisciplinary conference draws scholars representing diverse perspectives on public policy issues and provides a forum for showcasing the latest developments in policy research and practice. The conference hosts pre-conference activities, academic sessions, topical policy debates, workshops, panel discussions and practitioner-oriented discussions on contemporary topics in public policy and management.
The conference is ideal for academicians, students, research scholars, policy practitioners, lawyers, NGO professionals and others with an interest in public policy.
The theme: ‘Rethinking State Capacity in Delivering Public Policy’
The modern state is anchored by regulations, schemes, organization and broadly, public policy, whose effectiveness is driven by the state’s capacity to deliver on its intentions. Development of theories and frameworks around State Capacity is an ongoing academic exercise. Building on State Capacity as a theoretical construct forces one to think about implementation issues, ex-ante, and if the same could be tackled by innovative design. Evidence around the world speaking of such innovations in State Capacity would be one way of looking at it. Monitoring, evaluating and learning from existing schemes, missions and programs and their lessons towards understanding existing State Capacity, could be another. State Capacity’s role in fostering economic and social development cannot be understated, but equally, the challenges of Politics and Political Economy need to be factored in while enunciating it.
From frameworks for expanding primary healthcare systems towards universal health coverage to strengthening informal labour markets, addressing climate change, advancing agriculture and financial inclusion, exploring pathways to a just transition in the face of socio-environmental changes, the exploration of State Capacity spans a wide array of critical themes. This conference welcomes papers and case studies tackling these issues, among others, building towards an ongoing corpus of literature in and around State Capacity in delivering Public Policy.
Call for Research Papers and Practitioner Case Studies
Authors are invited to submit their original research findings and case studies relating to above-mentioned themes and other public policy topics under any one of the following two avenues:
A. Research Paper – The full paper should adhere to the following guidelines:
The topic of the paper should be directly related to public policy
The paper should have a limit of 5000-8000 words and the abstract of 250 words
Only British English needs to be used

Author/co-author’s biography (2-3 lines) needs to be sent indicating affiliation, designation and contact details

B. Practitioner Case Studies – Policy practitioners from both the public and private sector, as well as researchers, are invited to submit case studies from their successful experiences in the field, challenges faced in policy implementation, and learnings that could drive policy recommendations.

Centre for Teaching and Learning at IIMB invites nominations for the Nurturing Future Leadership Programme
22nd May 2025, The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IIM Bangalore is pleased to announce the 4th edition of the Nurturing Future Leadership Programme (NFLP), scheduled to take place from August 25 to 29, 2025, at the Bannerghatta campus of IIM Bangalore.
Organized under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme of the Ministry of Education (MoE), the NFLP is designed to build academic leadership among faculty members in higher education institutions across India. Through interactive workshops, case discussions, and expert sessions, the programme aims to strengthen leadership capabilities and foster institutional excellence.
Who can apply?
The program is open to full-time/permanent faculty members teaching in centrally funded universities/institutions and state public universities/institutions.
In alignment with the MoE's guidelines, up to four participants from private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will also be accommodated.

However, alongside the promise of this disruption, the needs of the employees are evolving, making it imperative to rethink sustainability in HRM and help them navigate the impact. The 6th HRIC aims to redirect the conversations toward disruption in the industry and explore how HRM can be reimagined to equip employees with the right skills and mindset to navigate the major changes dictated by these disruptions.
